Say "No" to GATT ! Defeat H.R. 4206
American patriots can change the course of history. GATT implements the New
World Order. Let's stop GATT dead in its tracks. We can do it.
The Bilderberg Group, the Trilateralists and their Council on
Foreign Relations cronies are pushing hard for ratification of the
latest round in GATT-the General Agreement on Tariffs and
Trade.
The bad news is that GATT would have a far more pernicious
impact on the American economy-and on American
sovereignty-than even NAFTA. The good news is that WE
HAVE A GOOD CHANCE TO DEFEAT IT.
GATT is a global extension of NAFTA and sets up the
framework for a one-world government- The Global Plantation.
GATT will create the World Trade Organization (WTO) an
international bureaucracy for a global regime whose decisions
will prevail over any American law.
Even House Republican leader Newt Gingrich (Ga.)-who helped
push NAFTA through Congress-is now raising ominous warnings
about the WTO. "I'm for world trade," says Gingrich, "but I'm
against world government." His opposition could be a major
monkey wrench thrown in the works of this internationalist
scheme.
According to Rep. Helen Bentley (R-Md.): "We are urged to lower tariffs
and accept GATT so we can help raise the standard of living in Third World
countries so they can buy American products. But it can only be done
through transfer of money and jobs at someone's expense and that someone
means workinq Americans."
Despite the damage GATT will inflict upon American workers and industry,
giant multinational corporations will reap gigantic profits, exploiting cheap
labor and natural resources in the Third World, marketing their products
under a single world government and devastating the American economy.
This is why many American manufacturers are joining grass-roots populists
in fighting GATT. For example, William Farley, chairman of Fruit of the
Loom textiles, supported NAFTA, but he does not support GATT. "I don't
see how I have any choice but to fight it," he says.
Among other things, GATT would eliminate quotas and tariffs for apparel
and textile manufacturers. As a result, a minimum of 2,000.000 American
companies will have to compete head to head with countries like India that
subsidize the costs of apparel manufacturers and pay workers as little as 25
cents an hour.
And here's another very important fact .
GATT is clearly a treaty and under the Constitution should be subjected to a
two-thirds approval vote by the Senate. However, GATT's backers are
proceeding as though GATT can be approved by simple majorities in both
houses of Congress. This was the same UNCONSTITUTIONAL trick they
used to enact NAFTA.
We can win this important fight!
There is a major precedent. In 1945 the internationalists proposed a global
trade organization similar to the WTO under GATT. However, American
nationalists fought back and President Truman was forced to scuttle the plan.
Now it's our turn to do the same and STOP GATT.
HERE'S What YOU MUST DO:
Write your lawmakers. Urge them to oppose GATT. Most of them have no
idea what is in the 26,000-page agreement and none of them have read it.
Write your representative in care of the House of Representatives,
Washington, D.C. 20515. Write your senators in care of the U.S. Senate,
Washington, D.C. 20510. (The GATT implementing legislation is H.R.4206.)
Follow your letter with a phone call in care of the U.S. Capitol switchboard
at (202) 224-3121. If you don't know your lawmakers' names, the
switchboard can help you.
Call talk shows, write letters to editors of local newspapers and talk up the
issue at clubs, churches, etc.
Now is the time!
